                      c

1- Hearing a lecture about death or reading a book about death in the cemetery.

         Death is something we all run from and something we all dislike talking about. But in reality remembering death is one of the virtues of being successful in both in this worldly life and Hereafter. Also our Messenger Muhammad (saw) and his companions are known to practice this virtue. So get yourself an audio lecture or a book about death and visit a cemetery all alone. Now listen to the lecture or read the book about death while witnessing the people who had started their journey into the Hereafter. The ire silence of the place itself will remind you of the day you will lay all alone in your grave separated from this materialistic world.

2- Praying night prayer or two units of prayer in a pitch dark room contemplating that the room is your grave.

          Whenever we think about the day we had to rest in our grave, it brings a chilling fear into our heart. This fear is actually is essential in our worldly life to attain piety. Because of this the Satan is effortlessly working everyday to delude us in this materialistic world. So shake this up and switch off all the lights in your room and pray two units or more Sunnah Prayer in your room. While praying imagine that room is your grave and contemplate on the loneliness, darkness, coldness and the long days you have to spend in your grave. This will give you  an idea of the  day you lay all alone answerable to your all actions.

3- Reading Quran and translation in a quiet environment with natural beauty (e.g. Park) while contemplating on the creation of Allah (swa).

              Allah (swa) had constantly told us to ponder about the creations of Allah (swa). He the almighty Allah (swa) hence had revealed the importance of pondering into His creations.

   It is He who sends down rain from the sky: from it ye drink, and out of it (grows) the vegetation on which ye feed your cattle.
  With it He produces for you corn, olives, date-palms, grapes and every kind of fruit: verily in this is a sign for those who give thought.
  He has made subject to you the Night and the Day; the sun and the moon; and the stars are in subjection by His Command: verily in this are Signs for men who are wise.
  And the things on this earth which He has multiplied in varying colours (and qualities): verily in this is a sign for men who celebrate the praises of Allah (in gratitude).
  It is He Who has made the sea subject, that ye may eat thereof flesh that is fresh and tender, and that ye may extract therefrom ornaments to wear; and thou seest the ships therein that plough the waves, that ye may seek (thus) of the bounty of Allah and that ye may be grateful.
  And He has set up on the earth mountains standing firm, lest it should shake with you; and rivers and roads; that ye may guide yourselves;
  And marks and sign-posts; and by the stars (men) guide themselves.
  Is then He Who creates like one that creates not? Will ye not receive admonition? (Surah Al- Nahl 10-17)

4- Laying down and looking at the sky on night where the stars can be seen and contemplating on the creation of Allah (swa)

        Sky is something which fascinates us all. It is one of the most magnificent creation of Allah (swa). In many verses of Quran Allah (swa) had advised us to ponder over it.
        Verily! In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and in the alternation of night and day, and the ships which sail through the sea with that which is of use to mankind, and the water (rain) which Allah sends down from the sky and makes the earth alive therewith after its death, and the moving (living) creatures of all kinds that He has scattered therein, and in the veering of winds and clouds which are held between the sky and the earth, are indeed Ayat (proofs, evidence, signs, etc.) for people of understanding. (Surah Al - Baqara 164) These beautiful verses are enough to prove how beneficial is contemplating on Allah (swa) creation.

5-  Visiting a funeral and seeing how a dead body is prepared to be placed in the coffin and how a coffin is prepared.

       Funerals are actually opportunities that can be beneficial in earning good deeds and piety. Seeing dead body, how he or she is prepared for the burial, seeing his or her family crying, seeing the coffin being prepared, the funeral prayer and the burial rituals are things that will remind you that the same faith is awaiting you.  So visiting funerals will remind you of your death and once it reminds you of your death it will remind you of how prepared you are to face death. If you are neglecting your daily obligations or committing sins. So this evaluation will lead you to perform good deeds and will prepare you to meet your creator.
